Oly Ride D1

Lake Crescent Highway 101 East
Day One of the 2019 Olympic Peninsula Cycling Tour is now officially in the books. We did what the gang is now calling the Day One Triathlon, as we rode the 18 miles of Hurricane Ridge (at a casual pace), hiked to the Sol Duc Falls (a robust two miler) and then finished the day with a soak in the medicinal waters at Olympic Hot Springs. Bike, Hike and Soak. After all of that we are currently holed up in Forks, drinking wine and plotting tomorrow's route. Which, if national weather services are to be believed, calls for a 40-70% chance of rain. Out here it is my experience that anything over 1% means that Mariamman, the Hinu Goddess of rain will be to tossing poor cats and wet dogs from the sky non-stop between dawn and dusk.

So we shall see. And play the hand. Good day today, my compatriots rocked. See ya tomorrow as we get to Lake Quinault, and their gorgeous lodge, somehow and someway. Where I will try to add additional commentary and a few more highlight pix.
