Boom

I am in my warm and cozy upstairs bedroom. The small room was an addition to the tiny house/cabin below built in 1905. There are two 2’ x 4’ skylights and a ceiling fan, both of which are necessary this time of year too move the air around and provide a poor-man’s proxy for air conditioning. I don’t mind. But the two skylights are adjustable, meaning that tonight, on a hot 3rd of July evening, they are fully open. Sound enters as well as air.

As you probably know, perhaps even from yesterday’s hardball op-ed about the state of the state, I am not a happy camper. The United States of America is teetering on the brink of collapse as a direct result of the corruption, ineptitude and arrogance of the current administration. AND THEIR BASE. Need proof?

The republican senate just issued a statement saying they agree with their investigations that Russia played a part in the election of their guy, the guy who now is causing, or allowing, all the
un-democratic trauma to unfold. His own party is now starting to sense what we have known all along. That this guy is running roughshod over some very cherished principles as he positions himself as a candidate for King. The King of course is above the law.

UNTIL THE LAW COMES TO TOWN.

The GOP is in full on panic mode, now suggesting in their charming way that the resistance, by saying all those nasty things about the POTUS, are behaving like children, uncivil and dangerous. OH REALLY?

In what is left of the civilized part of America, we consider the first amendment to be of particular value, providing us with the guaranteed right of self expression. It is our DUTY to call attention to violations to the code of ethics and guiding light we call our Constitution. How the minions of mayhem can spin that fact to their political benefit is a staggering testimony to how close we are to losing the freedoms that our democracy ensures. So you are saying that trump has never uttered a single disparaging word, nary a negative tweet, or is yet to issue a mean spirited missive? Right.

Yesterday, in a post ride strategy session, we all agreed that the word hypocritical is not nearly a strong enough an adjective in describing any anatomical part of this rotting fish.

As much as it pains me, in 30 minutes I am going to run in a 5K with my nephew. It is the 4th of July, there is a parade and a pancake breakfast scheduled. I’ll begrudgingly do the run, boycott the rest as a small way to voice my opinion. There is nothing to celebrate today. This shame coming from a guy who once organized parades on top secret military bases for the US Navy.

Last night as I lay reading, the skylights innocently allowed the explosions and bombast to enter my peaceful space. I heard dogs in distress as well as ear-shattering reports from what sounded like a battlefield below.

The civil war cited by fear mongers supposedly to start today would be fully loaded with fireworks. Let us be clear, our’s will not be a violent revolution, there will be no coup other than the one we begin in November. That regime change executed by exercising another of those guaranteed rights. The ones the swampy GOP find so pesky, suppressing and gerrymandering as much as they can get away with; The right to vote.

NOVEMBER ’18.

Vote the bastards out. (But impeach now.)

Happy Fourth.
